Gandhi’s letter to Hitler

Gandhi wrote a letter to Hitler before he invaded Poland

On July 23, 1939, a month before the German invasion of Poland, Mahatma Gandhi wrote a letter to German Fuhrer Adolph Hitler, begging him to reconsider Germany's then-current vector toward world war. In it, Gandhi attempts to appeal to Hitler's common decency, and refers to Gandhi's own great successes completed without violence. Gandhi asks if reducing humanity to a "savage state" is worth acquiring the Poland, which Hitler believed belonged to Germany.
