If you had the opportunity to travel back in time, what normal everyday things would you be most excited to do or observe?
When we ask ourselves what we would do with a time machine, we often respond that we'd like to "take part in the storming of the Bastille", or "see the landfall of Columbus" or any other major historical event. But what about the completely normal and uneventful things of the past? I think those every activities and things are what truly defines the past.
For me, taking a stroll through 18-th century Amsterdam while trying out the varieties of pastries and food would be incredibly interesting, or perhaps spend a day on a British three-mast warship as an officer in the early 19-th century in tropical waters.
