Zoe Saldana is the lucky charm for any movie expecting to break box-office records, and yet, she continues to not be seen as the major star she is
Look at her records: she's the co-lead of "Avatar", the most successful film of all time worldwide. She's the female lead of "Avengers: Infinity War", and the only character in that movie, aside from Thanos, with a major arc of her own. She's the female lead of "Star Trek". She was Gamora for two very successful Guardians of the Galaxy movies, the first one being a risk which took off and yet, with all the success she's had throughout her career, it has never felt like her name has had the same buzz as Chris Pratt.
It took two movies for Chris Pratt to become one of the biggest male stars in Hollywood: Jurassic World and Guardians. Yet Zoe Saldana was in Avatar and Star Trek at the same time and she never got the same kind of reception. I remember when Avatar came out and Sam Worthington got some attention and started getting the Titans movies and Zoe Saldana was almost ignored even though her performance as Neytiri was raved and there were even words on a potential Oscar nomination.
Compare how Jennifer Lawrence was seen by the media after The Hunger Games and how Zoe Saldana was seen after Avatar and you'll see a big difference. Saldana has consistently worked and nobody can deny that she's had an amazing run: Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek and now Infinity War. How many actresses can claim to have such a run where they were the female leads in all those movies?
